Four
teams of four drivers lined up with Falcon powered Int 32 cars looking
forward to 8 hours of racing. 30 minutes for each driver on each lane.
However early on it was realised that Graemem's "improvements" to the lap
counting software fell more than a little short. After two hours of racing
the results for the third run could not be recalled. A timely lunch break
was taken and it was decided to start again but this time as a four hour
event. So the drivers lined up once more, this time racing for 15 minutes
on each lane. The rather strange name "Horseshit" was derived from the
drivers' initials (GGSS).
The car
problems were confined to the aborted first series. The Crash & Bash car
suffering a slipping pinion and then a stripped gear. A later crash saw
them loose a pick up braid. The All Stars car suffered a broken lead wire
while Graeme Saxton had a broken wire on his controller.
During
the four hour event the cars ran without problems, although the NorthSouth
team felt their car was losing speed in the third lane stint and changed
their motor. Their times for the fourth lane were close to those in the
third. The All Stars changed braids between the third and fourth runs.
Kevin Dench had controller troubles during his second run. All in all the
cars ran remarkably well.
The
story of the racing was the Horseshit team putting a small gap on the
Northsouths who in turn were pulling away from Crash & Bash with the All
Stars trying hard but falling behind.
Apart
from the computer problems an enjoyable event with the cars a pleasure to
drive.
